At this session, we’ll hear three real-life IT Governance stories from three very different organisations. We’ll start with Fost Plus’s digital landscape makeover, and the resulting governance challenges. Then, we’ll hear from Visit Flanders on their different phases and how the focus evolved along the way. Finally, KU Leuven will share the story of their IT department’s move to agile working, including implementing an entirely new IT Governance.
Agenda:

14:00 (in English) Introduction: Participants’ expectations around the table

14:15 (in English) User story: Are we there yet? The never-ending (fairy)tale of IT Governance at Fost Plus
Fost Plus has given its IT landscape a complete makeover over the last five years, with a focus on digitalisation and the use of new technologies to optimise business efficiency. As the landscape restabilises, there is still a lot of work to be done to manage all the changes from the past half-decade. In this presentation, we’ll discover the journey that Fost Plus has taken so far in managing the governance of this landscape, and the associated challenges.
Shanna Cloet, IT Manager, Fost Plus
14:45 (in Dutch) User story: Charting the course – The Evolution of IT Governance and interdepartmental collaboration at Visit Flanders

- The development of IT Governance and its impact on the organisation
- The evolution of the collaboration between the ICT department and other departments
- The growth and maturity of the agency over the years
Geert Hoffbauer, CIO, Visit Flanders

16:00 (in Dutch) User story: An agile governance transformation within a century-old organisation
Eight years ago, KU Leuven’s IT department began their exciting evolution towards agile working. Inspired by the Safe framework (among others), they implemented a completely new IT Governance, reaching all the way to the highest governing bodies. We’ll hear how KU Leuven transformed from rigid projects to agile initiatives; from top-down Gantt charts to bottom-up Kanban’ boards; from input-based timesheets to delivered features; and from traditional customer-supplier relationships to transparent, predictable partnerships. This is a story about the organisation changing not only how they work, but how they think about collaboration and progress.
Jan Scheerlinck, Member of the Management team and growing as a servant agile leader, and Leen Van Rentergem, CIO, ICTS KU Leuven
