Dr. Aleksandra Klein, Professor of Management Accounting
Aleksandra’s research explores the intersection of creativity and performance. She concentrates on how management accounting and control systems affect creative environments. At Vlerick, she will particularly focus on digital applications in management accounting.
She’s also involved in research projects focusing on social innovation, performance evaluation, family firms and emerging growth companies. Her research has been published in several academic journals and she collaborates with research organisations all over the world. She has taught at different European business schools, winning several teaching and research awards.
Before she became an academic, Aleksandra was an Associate at Deutsche Bank Inhouse Consulting – where she gained important practical experience that she now applies to her research and teaching posts.
Aleksandra teaches on our Masters programmes and plays an active role in the Centre for Financial Leadership and Digital Transformation.

Punit is a leading privacy expert who specializes in privacy strategy, advice, training and support to CXOs.
He is DPO and Education director at ISACA Belgium. Punit also works with business and privacy leaders to create an organization culture with high privacy awareness and compliance as a business priority.

Kurt Callewaert, Valorisation Manager Digital Transformation, Member the Belgian Cyber Security Coalition vzw Kurt Callewaert is Valorisation Manager Digital Transformation at Howest University of Applied Sciences collaborating with research groups specializing in AI, AR/VR , Web3 (Blockchain , Solid) , Game Technology and Cybersecurity. Kurt is a member of the Flemish Cybersecurity Steering Group Training & Outreach and the Belgian Cyber Coalition vzw .
Kurt has been active in cybersecurity for more than 12 years as lecturer, researcher and momently project leader of the Living Lab Innovative Cyber Security in Industry and Logistics 4.0 . The Howest study program CS at Howest is internationally well-known. Kurt is Belgium’s Cyber Security Researcher / Educator of 2023

Livia De Picker, Assistant professor of clinical immunopsychiatry at University Psychiatric Hospital Duffel
Dr. Livia De Picker graduated with a summa cum laude medical degree from the University of Antwerp in 2012. As a clinical psychiatrist and postdoctoral researcher at the University Psychiatric Hospital Duffel (Belgium), her current work seamlessly integrates research, clinical care, and health care policy, focusing on translational strategies for evidence-based policy implementation.
Beyond her clinical and research roles, Dr. De Picker has been actively engaged at the international level, contributing as a board member and director for several prominent scientific organizations. This multifaceted involvement has established her as a noteworthy early career clinician-scientist, advocating for advancements in neuroscience across Belgium and Europe. Dr. De Picker’s influence extends beyond traditional academic settings, as she is a sought-after public speaker. Her recent TEDx presentation on “salience” brilliantly explores the intersection of neuroscience and technology, offering unique insights into this compelling nexus.

Annette Homann Violinist, Composer and Violist
Annette Homann is a violinist, violist and composer. Born in Hanover, Germany, she stands out for being incredibly versatile in terms of musical styles. Her way of playing has been described as “sparkling, energetic, confident and joyful” (Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung).
She started playing at the age of 6. After graduating from highschool she decided to become a professional violinist and started her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover and finished her Teaching Diploma at the Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz in 2004 where she studied with Professor Christoph Schickedanz. In 2005 she moved to New York City to study at Manhattan School of Music with Laurie Smukler. She received her Master of Music in violin performance in 2006.
2008-2011 she went on a world tour with the fiddle show Barrage playing about 200 shows a year. After she continued being an active freelance musician in NYC playing with various groups and solo at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
In 2016 she moved back to Europe. She has been continuing as a freelance musician performing solo shows and tours including playing with Michael Bublé, Howard Carpendale, Soloist for Alex Christensen and the Berlin Orchestra, Senna Gammour, Marc Secara and Orchestra, subbing in the musical HAMILTON as well as performing with her Irish duo HomeWard.
In 2020 Mrs. Homann published the album “Violin Sentiments”, an album of original compositions for solo- and duo violin/viola. The style can be described as classical crossover. Mrs. Homann is also a dedicated instructor. She currently resides in both Berlin and Brussels with her family. www.annettehomann.com
